RMIT Architecture Exchange Studies related to the DARC Program
Six Architecture students from RMIT School of Architecture and Design have been nominated between 2011 and 2012 (three students for each year) to undertake exchange studies at the 3 European schools involved with this Program. The exchange studies are framed by each of the 3 European schools through specialist design studios and courses available at each institution that closely relate to the educational and theoretical objectives of this Program involved with research on climate change.
Applications are now open (until February 2013) to nominate three more RMIT Architecture students from Master and Bachelor level (who have completed design level 5) for the last cycle of the exchange studies related to this Program. The 3 exchange positions are partly funded by the Australian government to be undertaken in semester 2/2013 (September 2013 - February 2014) at UPC-ETSAB Barcelona, ENSA Toulouse and Turin Polytechnic. In addition to the regular studies, the three nominated RMIT students will also participate to the final European workshop that will be organized at Turin Polytechnic towards the end of 2013
Funding through the Australian Government up to $8,000 includes:
- $1,700 towards travel costs
- $1,400 living expenses (up to 4.5 months)
To be eligible students you must be:
- An Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident
- Enrolled in an Architecture Bachelor or Masters
Exchange period: September 2013 – February 2014 (dates vary according to institution)
The exchange requires language ability as each of the institutions teach in their home language of Spanish, French, and Italian

- Preferred Institution in Europe (out of the 3 schools listed above)
- Language ability and/or ability to improve language prior to exchange
- Motivation or suitability for the program (200 words)
Decision will be made on merit based on student performance and language ability. Short-listed applicants may be called for interview. Successful applicants will be required to prepare the exchange application by mid February, liaising with the RMIT Education Abroad Office. If successful and not fluent, students will be advised to enroll in language courses in semester 1 2013.
